Studies have shown that children learning more than one language generally outperform their monolingual peers in many developmental areas, especially in math and language. The “sensitive period” for learning language is before age 8. In today’s global village, being bilingual or multilingual helps children to have new perspectives on the world and appreciate and respect the differences. That better prepares our children for becoming global citizens.

Children learn Chinese as a second language at our center. We proceed our language learning with the strategy of Chinese/English Parallel Teaching. The Chinese extended activities are consistent with English extended activities. Our learning activities are designed according to our weekly theme books both in Chinese and English. We prepare the learning environment for children to be naturally immersed in both English and Chinese at the different time of the day. Studies have shown that immersion is the most effective way of learning second language.

Parents are the first teachers of their child and have the greatest influence on their child in all aspects. FEEC values the close communication with the parents through media, emails, and phone conversation in order to best support the well-beings of the children.
